Whose land we are on:

Stonewall Youth is situated on the land known as st̓əč̓as (anglicized as Steh-Chass) - we are one block East of the former village of bəsčətxʷəd (anglicized as Bus-chut-wud) [frequented by black bears].

This region was, is, and continues to be the ancestral land of the st̓əč̓as people, whose descendants comprises today’s Squaxin Island Tribe [People of the Water]. st̓əč̓as has been home to the tribe and a gathering place for nearby Coast Salish and Plateau peoples for, at minimum, 13,000 years.

Stonewall Youth recognizes the ongoing settler-colonial genocide of the Squaxin Island Tribe in what is legally known as Olympia—and of indigenous peoples of the Americas in general—both near and far. We are committed to fighting against it.
