Along with being marginalized due to their sexual orientation and/or gender identity, many LGBTQQIA youth contend with homelessness, racism and other types of oppression, abuse or neglect from parents or guardians, hunger, mental health or substance abuse issues, poverty, bullying and disrespect at school, and other struggles. It’s estimated that approximately 40% of youth who are homeless in our community are LGBTQ+, and LGBTQ+ youth are four times more likely to commit suicide than other youth.Founded in 1991, Stonewall Youth is an organization of youth, activists and allies that empowers lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, questioning, intersex and asexual youth to speak for themselves, education their communities, and support each other. Stonewall Youth addresses the root causes of oppression while providing access to services and experiences that alleviate the stresses of marginalization. We serve youth ages 21 and under. Over 450 youth participate in our programs yearly. Here's more information about our programs.Bowl-O-Rama proceeds advance youth leadership at Stonewall Youth by funding the training and wages of our youth co-directors and youth Speakers Bureau members. Along with contributing an immense amount to our programs, these youth learn valuable job and community organizing skills from their peers and from adult staff mentors.Come play with us!
