Friday the 13th Open Mic!

An open mic for LGBTQQIAA+ Youth to share their singing/writing talent.

There will be a short writing workshop before the Open Mic based on the month and day in which this event takes place on (Friday the 13th). Regular drop-ins will be held from 4-6pm, and the open mic will be from 6-8pm on Friday October 13th.

The host of the Event will be our new Youth Intern, Cameron Michalak!!

This type of thing will be happening monthly through December, hosted by Cameron. Keep posted for the next dates.

Glitter Camp 2017


Glitter Camp is Stonewall Youth’s almost-annual retreat for LGBTQ+ youth 21 & under, Stonewall staff, volunteers and Board members. LGBTQ+ youth who’ve never attended Stonewall’s programs are welcome!

At camp, there will be youth-led workshops, an open mic, free time, plenty of great food, opportunities for nature walks, storytelling, and sitting by a cozy fire. We spend some time visioning Stonewall’s future programs, as well as engaging in community building, anti-oppression, and self-care centered activities. We’ll all share the pleasure of cooking, eating, and cleaning together.

We will be carpooling to camp from the Stonewall Youth office. We will leave at 5pm on Friday, Oct 6th and return to the Stonewall office at 12:30pm on Monday Oct. 9th.

Glitter Camp is FREE for all attendees, though we could certainly use donations to cover our costs!

If you can’t stay the entire weekend, we may be able to arrange transportation from Olympia on Saturday or Sunday for people who just want to come for the day.

Stonewall Youth is hiring TWO new youth Program Directors! (Must be age 21 or under to apply).

We’re excited to announce that we’re expanding our staff collective from FOUR people (2 youth & 2 adults) to FIVE people (3 youth and 2 adults). We’re hiring two new people right now because one of our current youth staff members, Ruby Harrison-Clay, is moving on to new adventures in November after doing AMAZING work at Stonewall for two years.

If you’re interested and are age 21 or under, please submit a resume, a cover letter via email by 5pm on September 1st to be considered for the positions.  We request that applicants commit to at least 18 months. Please note that while you must be 21 or under when you are hired, you can still hold the position if/when you become older than 21.  PLEASE SEE THE TWO-PAGE JOB DESCRIPTION BELOW FOR MORE INFORMATION.

The two new youth Program Directors will work collaboratively with other youth and adult staff collective members to develop, coordinate, and maintain youth-centered programming that is accountable to Stonewall Youth’s mission, vision and values.  This collaboration will be highly youth-led. There is an adult Program Director, whose primary role is to support the youth Directors.

Zine Project Release/Reading/Open Mic!

20953831_10155051373292746_2476771715260262744_nStonewall Youth is hosting weekly writing workshops: July 31, August 7, 25, 28, Sept. 1 from 5-7pm. Workshops are open to all LGBTQ+ youth ages 21 and under. Contact for more information.

These creative writing pieces, encompassing queer experiences, feelings, fan-fiction, poetry, prose, and more, will be compiled into a zine published by Stonewall Youth and released on September 1. We will host a reading of some pieces from the zine, as well as an open mic open to all LGBTQ+ youth ages 21 and under, from 6-8pm on September 1st. 

Everyone is welcome to the performance. We will be collecting donations and selling copies of the zine ♥

Community Potluck #6 – Queer & Trans Legacy Building

This month’s intergenerational potluck will focus on queer and trans legacy building among youth, elders, and everyone in between, to strengthen and care for our community. We will be watching some relevant videos to learn from and discuss.

As usual, Stonewall Youth will provide some yummy main course dishes as well as a few sides, and you’re encouraged to bring something tasty to share. This is a great time to show off that amazing dish you make, or to experiment with cooking fabulous new recipes!

Don’t stress if you’re not able to bring anything or only have time to sprint into the store to pick up chips & dip or some non-alcoholic beverages to share! The important thing is that you show up and feast in community with us. No alcohol, please.

We’ll be asking for donations to cover our costs. We’re counting on folks with financial resources to help cover the costs of providing food to youth and other folks in our community who are struggling financially. Any additional income will be applied to the costs of providing our many regular programs for LGBTQ+ youth.

Stonewall Youth is committed to making these monthly potlucks a safer place for all in our community, particularly youth, LGBTQ+ folks, people of color, low-income folks, and elders. Bring your respect! (See our FB event post for guidance on what we mean about a “safer place.”)

Camping Trip from Aug. 21-23

Stonewall Youth is going camping! We are so excited!

On August 21st, we are going to Boardman Group Campsite, a campsite (the only one!) on the Stillaguamish River, near Mt. Baker. It is roughly a two and a half hour drive from Stonewall. We will meet on Aug. 21st at 10am at Stonewall Youth to carpool there, and will be returning on August 23rd around 12pm. See the Facebook event for more info.

For all youth attending, a permission slip (attached below) and application (link HERE) needs to be turned in by August 14th. The permission slip and application will be made available at Stonewall and on this page. It can either be emailed to, or dropped off at Stonewall.

Please bring all the essential supplies: (see list below). If you have extra supplies, or have a large tent (we’d love to be able to find a 8-10+ person tent for youth to share!) please contact Lili as soon as possible, at or through Stonewall Youth’s Facebook message. We’re trying to build a solid selection of supplies for youth that don’t have any/are unable to purchase them before the trip.

We are also looking for volunteers! Drivers especially. Please let us know as soon as possible if you’re interested in volunteering during our camping trip. Being a driver isn’t a neccesity but would be greatly appreciated.

Stonewall will provide food and some snacks, but bring some if you’re able too, especially to share!

Stonewall Summer Spectacular: A daytime Carnival & an evening Sweet Soiree


Two delightful events in one big day! Join us for one or both of these events at our fabulous new headquarters

2-6pm: FREE CARNIVAL!  An all-ages event with fun games, food, and activities for everyone. OMG, so much: a BOUNCY HOUSE (!), ping-pong, small games with prizes, elephant ears…..

7-9pm: SWEET SOIREE!  The evening’s pleasures include many treats: yummy sweet and savory snacks, live music and spoken word, a bar, and an amazing array of auction items. There will also be a photo booth, raffle, games, and much more! It’s an all-ages event, and we will provide childcare for young kids. Buy tickets for Sweet Soiree at Brown Paper Tickets.

We invite you to don your fancy clothes for the evening, but wear whatever pleases you the most!

WHY:  We love hosting fun all-ages events in our community!  All proceeds from both events go towards our Capital Campaign. After 25 years of serving LGBTQ+ youth, Stonewall Youth is buying our new headquarters! Its a good investment, and will allow us to to expand our music, art, social and supportive programming. We’ll be able to offer office, meeting, and event space to other social justice nonprofits.

Day Trip to Lake Cushman!

Stonewall Youth is taking a field trip to Lake Cushman for the day (Monday July 17th)! We will be closed for our regular Monday drop-in hours on this day.

Any LGBTQ+ youth age 12-21 is welcome to join us for the field trip.

We will all meet at Stonewall Youth and carpool to and from the lake, leaving at 10am and arriving back in Olympia by 5pm.

If you want to go on the field trip, please fill out a permission slip. If you are under 18, a legal guardian needs to sign it. If you are over 18, you can sign your own permission slip. Permission slips are can be downloaded here, or you can get one in person at our space.
